The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Himachal Pradesh organised the 6th CII Power Conclave 2026 at the CII Northern Region Headquarters, Chandigarh, bringing together government and industry stakeholders to discuss opportunities for accelerating renewable energy development and investment in Himachal Pradesh. Addressing the Conclave as Chief Guest, R D Nazeem, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary (MPP & Power and NCES), Government of Himachal Pradesh, highlighted the State Government’s efforts to facilitate investment and strengthen the ease of doing business in the power sector. He noted that the single-window clearance system has been streamlined to enable faster project clearances and create a more conducive environment for industry. Nazeem also highlighted that Himachal Pradesh is the first State in India to undertake a river basin study to assess the environmental impact of hydropower development. He emphasized that the State’s renewable energy potential would be harnessed while maintaining a balance between energy development and environmental considerations, given the State’s fragile ecology. He further noted that renewable energy resources could support competitive power availability for industry and strengthen Himachal Pradesh’s investment proposition. The Conclave brought together leading companies and event partners, including JSW Energy Limited, AD Hydro Power Limited (ADHPL), Malana Power Company Limited (MPCL), EnerGrid, Greenko, Two-Point-O Capital, Schneider Electric, GMR Bajoli Holi Hydro Power Private Limited (BHHPL) – GMR Group, NHPC Limited, Delta Power and Sai Urja Hydel Projects Pvt Ltd, with discussions spanning key opportunities across the renewable energy value chain. The deliberations focused on unlocking the State’s hydro and solar potential, strengthening energy storage and grid integration, facilitating private-sector participation and developing a broader clean-energy ecosystem. Industry representatives highlighted the potential for solar and hybrid renewable projects, distributed generation and emerging clean-energy applications, while emphasising the importance of predictable policies, streamlined approvals and an enabling investment framework. Discussions also covered the evolving requirements of the power sector, including energy storage, transmission and grid resilience, as the share of renewable energy increases. Industry experts shared perspectives on technologies and business models that can support renewable power integration while strengthening the reliability and flexibility of the State’s energy system. The Conclave further highlighted opportunities to expand beyond conventional power generation towards a broader renewable energy value chain, including clean-energy infrastructure, technology, manufacturing and emerging applications.Speaking on the occasion, Mr Sanjay Suri, Chairman, CII Himachal Pradesh and Managing Director, Morepen Laboratories, emphasised the importance of an enabling ecosystem that can attract private investment and support sustainable industrial growth in the State. The Conclave concluded with an emphasis on strengthening Government–industry collaboration and leveraging Himachal Pradesh’s renewable energy potential to attract investment, enhance energy infrastructure and create avenues for sustainable economic growth.
